New South Wales has passed legislation to give the media better access to the state’s courtrooms. The new law creates a presumption in favour of broadcasting judgments and sentencing in major criminal trials and judgments in civil cases before the Supreme and District Courts.

He’s not quite a legal beagle, but a poodle by the name of Riley is one of the newest faces at Melbourne Law School.

Nicknamed “The Juris Dogtor”, Riley is a therapy dog who visits the school to help relieve stress and provide a welcome distraction from readings and case note writing.
