In the fourth installment for the CLC series, Jess Awad speaks to Andrea Staunton from the Peninsula Community Legal Centre about her  experience working for a community legal centre.

 

What were you doing before you become a part of PCLC?

Immediately prior to joining the staff team at Peninsula Community Legal Centre (PCLC), I had a six month stint as an unemployed actress! I did casual extras work (sauntering around in the background without delivering lines) for Neighbours and Stingers, and took on a variety of temporary administrative and bookkeeping roles to help pay the bills.

In memoriam of Prince, Survive Law has taken a brief look into the legal legacy left by the flamboyant performer.

Apparently, his Royal Purpleness was just as experienced in law as he was in the entertainment industry, with The Hollywood Reporter claiming that Prince’s “legal skirmishes are nearly as legendary as the music”.

When you’ve poured your blood, sweat and tears into an assignment, the last thing you want to see is a disappointing grade scrawled across the paper. After I saw the final mark and comments for my Income Tax Law assignment, I will admit to being completely devastated. But more than that – the comments I'd received didn't match up with the paper I'd written, and neither did the mark.
