If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably been dreaming about the summer holidays since April. The last few weeks of second semester are always the hardest – the weather is singing, “you should be outside,” and your subject outline is growling, “I don’t think so.”

Take home exams have to be my least favourite assessment type. Mostly it’s because they turn your home into an exam room. That said, any exam that you can do in your pyjamas doesn’t have to be the worst experience of your academic career.

Across the country and indeed the world, it is becoming more common for people to return to tertiary study later in life. These students generally have many responsibilities and an existing career to juggle alongside their new area of study. Although an off campus attendance mode allows many to pursue extra study, it’s not without its disadvantages.

Being a law student has its perks, but also a few drawbacks. Fortunately, many of those downsides are fleeting, and we can all look forward to a better life on the other side of graduation. Sure, we’ll miss the sleep-ins, but there are plenty of things we’ll be excited to leave behind.
