University of Sydney law student Neha Kasbekar has won this year’s Governor-General's Undergraduate Essay Competition.
Kasbekar and the other finalists were interviewed in July by a panel chaired by High Court Justice Kenneth Hayne, and the Constitution Education Fund Australia (CEFA) announced the competition results late last month.
Kasbekar’s essay explored constitutional recognition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
Other essay topics explored in this year’s competition included constitutional interpretation, civil rights, taxation, and the Workchoices case.
