NSW Supreme Court Joins Twitter

Blue cartoon bird

“The Supreme Court has succumbed to the Twittersphere. Looking forward to sharing our updates with you - Bathurst CJ”. This was the first tweet from the Supreme Court of New South Wales, which made its Twitter debut yesterday.

The Court hopes that the move into social media will improve transparency, accessibility and understanding of court processes. Updates from ‪@NSWSupCt will include new judgments, and changes to legislation, rules and practice notes, as well as media releases and new publications and speeches from the Court.

“The Court is committed to improving accessibility to the court and we are open to adopting new technology to make that happen”, said NSW Supreme Court Chief Justice, The Hon Tom Bathurst.

“We are looking forward to sharing news and updates via Twitter and we hope that it helps the Court inform and engage with interested members of the community, the media and the legal profession.”

You can follow the Supreme Court of New South Wales at @NSWSupCt. Other Australian courts and tribunals on Twitter include:
