Former Commonwealth Attorney-General Nicola Roxon will be joining the law faculty at Victoria University as an adjunct professor, the uni announced last week.

In her new role, Roxon will chair the advisory board of the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre, which conducts research, and runs training courses for lawyers and legal organisations.

Roxon became Australia’s first female Attorney-General in 2011. During her tenure as Attorney-General, she introduced and successfully defended plain cigarette packaging legislation in the High Court. By the time she stepped down in February last year, Roxon had appointed two new Justices to the High Court and a new Federal Court Chief Justice.
