Federal Attorney-General Nicola Roxon has announced that University of Technology Sydney Dean of Law, Professor Jill McKeough will head up the Australian Law Reform Commission copyright review.
The inquiry will focus on technological developments and how they impact copyright laws.
“The inquiry will consider whether the exceptions in the Federal Copyright Act are adequate and appropriate in the fast paced digital environment,” Ms. Roxon said.
Professor McKeough has been Dean of the UTS Faculty of Law since 2005 and is also the current chair of the Council of Australian Law Deans. Professor McKeough has also previously served as Head of School, Associate Dean (undergraduate) and Director of Postgraduate Programs in the Law Faculty at the University of New South Wales.
The inquiry’s terms of reference will be released by the end of March 2012.
